Job summary

The Nuclear Medicine (NM) modality of the Quality Standards for Imaging (QSI) accredited Imaging Department at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NNUH) is looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic Nuclear Medicine Radiographer or Technologist to join and lead our our multi-disciplinary team in a Nuclear Medicine Modality Lead role.

The Nuclear Medicine department performs approximately 7500 exams per year. We offer a wide range of diagnostic and therapy procedures to patients across Norfolk and Suffolk. The department offers a range of radionuclide therapies including I-131 for thyroid cancer and benign disease as well as Radium 223 and may wish to expand their therapeutic portfolio in the future.

We have had a recent refurbishment of the service which has seen the installation of 3 Intevo Bold SPECT/CT gamma cameras to significantly expand hybrid imaging. The service also supports an independent sector static PET/CT scanner.

Main duties of the job

You will work closely with the Operational team, Governance Lead, Senior/Principal Clinical Scientist and NM Radiologist team, and other Imaging modality leads considering the 4 pillars of the Imaging department service delivery under, Workforce, Governance, Performance and Finance.

You will take an active lead in both strategic and service development as well as oversight of effective workload management within the clinical areas by providing leadership and supervision to all levels of the multidisciplinary team. You will be expected to be a professional role model and demonstrate best working practice and lead by example

Job responsibilities

We have close links with the University of East Anglia and the Institute of Food Research, being involved in numerous research projects and clinical trials. The Trust is also home to the Norwich Radiology Academy, providing training for Radiologist specialist trainees. In addition, we have recently expanded our remit to include STP trainees

In conjunction with the senior leadership team, lead Consultant Nuclear Medicine Radiologist and senior Clinical Scientist; promote continuous improvement in service delivery, quality and safety, using current methods to improve productivity, workforce transformation and quality improvement. To be responsible for the Nuclear Medicine budget, capturing income and developing potential income streams through NHS, Research and Private Patient streams. To be responsible for the procurement of supplies and maintenance assets, ensuring cost effective management, acting as a point of contact for the supplys teams and others for county wide contractsResponsible for ensuring effective allocation and coordination of resources and staff Responsible for regularly monitoring, evaluating, and delivering the Nuclear Medicine service regarding governance requirements, patient waiting times in line with Government and Trust targets, as well as financial directives. Develop annual Nuclear Medicine service action and strategic plans, business cases where required, ensuring deliverables are achieved by target dates, taking remedial action where appropriate and informing the senior leadership team on achievements and any deviation from the agreed plan To work collaboratively with Nuclear Medicine Physics team on quality improvement and other projects, this includes facilities and new equipment procurement projects

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Degree in a radiological science or equivalent. Registration with the HCPC as a Radiographer or with The Voluntary Register (RCT/IPEM) as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist or commitment to complete the RCT/IPEM registration within one year of employment

Experience

Significant clinical and leadership experience as a senior radiographer/technologist in Nuclear Medicine Knowledge of UK radiological protection legislation with specific reference to Nuclear Medicine environments
