Birchwood Leisure Centre & occasionally other HTC venues, or events, as required
JOB PURPOSE:
To provide customers using HTC facilities with excellent service so that they are able to enjoy high quality, good value local leisure provision, in a safe, clean and well managed environment.
This front- line role is critical to the good reputation of the Council, and is underpinned by a strong emphasis on team work.
The post holder will be required to work flexibly within hours between 8am and 10pm Monday to Sunday

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Customer and Community focus
- To be a key point of contact for visitors and telephone callers in a manner that enhances the Council's reputation as a service provider
- To provide a friendly, consistent, and professional approach to all customers, and potential customers of HTC services
- To promote leisure Centre membership, other deals, and HTC events, showing an excellent understanding of the Council's operational programme
- To deliver (or pursue training in order to deliver) coaching in one or more sport activities
- To help out at special events organised by the Council for the community.
- To check membership of all users of Birchwood Leisure Centre
- To help meet the needs of service users by responding promptly and professionally to any customer feedback (comments, ideas, complaints) referring and cataloguing in accordance with HTC policies and procedures.
- To judge when a customer related issue requires the attention of the Duty Manager, and to act accordingly.
B. Maintaining the leisure environment
- To perform an hourly check of all ancillary areas, including changing rooms, corridors and outdoor areas, ensuring that the whole environment is tidy, safe, and hygienic. This will involve taking direct and immediate action as necessary in respect of toilet facilities, walls and floors.
- To move equipment, setting up/down, wiping of chairs, tables and presentation equipment, reporting breakages, showing attention to detail, and in a timely manner according to the schedule of activities
- To identify and report faulty equipment and remove from use in the most practical way, making minor repairs as necessary, and ensuring that such equipment is not returned to usage until safe to do so
- To be familiar with, and apply, the Council's Health and Safety obligations in respect of all staff, all users, and all casual visitors
- To deal with incidents and accidents requiring attention, including the administration of first aid either directly by referral to others on site, or by contacting emergency services
- To lock and unlock areas of the leisure centre and other Council Halls as necessary during shift
C. Other functions
- To receive, check and store deliveries of goods and supplies.
- To maintain daily record sheets of facilities
- To take bookings and payments in accordance with agreed procedures and protocols
- To otherwise ensure awareness of, and compliance with, all of the Council's policies, procedures and protocols, including those relating to the recording of working hours, annual leave, sick leave, and inter staff communications
- To make a positive contribution to personal development and performance; team events, team meetings and internal communications
- To undertake any other duties commensurate with your grade, and/or hours of work, as may be reasonably be required of you
