The Wigan Specialist Community Mental Health Team (SCMHT) are looking to welcome a Support Worker (Band 3) to our team.

We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Support Worker to join our successful, friendly and supportive team.

Our Support Workers work in our Nursing Streams, alongside the nursing team including a Band 7 Stream Lead, a Band 6 Senior Nurse Practitioner, a Band 5 Nurse Practitioner, and a Band 4 Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioner, as well as the wider MDT.

Whilst this post requires no professional registration, experience within mental health is essential. The post holder's professional development will be supported by the service through regular supervision and training opportunities.

You will need to be an individual who is flexible, creative, committed and able to adapt positively to change. Can be organised, able to prioritise and works well under pressure.

The post holder will be a key member of the SCMHT, working directly with service users under the care of the SCMHT, as part of the Multi Disciplinary Team which provides care, treatment and support to people with mental illness.

The post holder will provide support to those service users in line with the clinical pathways within the SCMHT. The role also involves short term periods of care to assist service users to develop independent living skills.

The post holder will provide support, advice and practical assistance to an allocated group of service users under the direction and supervision of a qualified member of the staff team, following a care plan agreed with the service user to facilitate goal planning, achievement and recovery.

Staff wellbeing and development is paramount - full supernumerary status will be provided to support induction to the team for the first 4 weeks in post.

Your skills and development opportunities will be supported as part of your induction process and reviewed regularly during line management supervision and an annual appraisal.
