EMR are looking for an ambitious and innovative individual to join our UK Operations Team as a Technical Assistant to the UK Director.

This role will support the day-to-day operations of EMR's UK Trading Operations across our UK sites. Based in Head Office in Warrington, there will be the requirement for regular UK travel.


This role will allow the holder to develop technical understanding of Metal Recycling and broaden their knowledge base and skill set into Strategy Development, Business Management Systems, and Process Improvement.


The role is aimed at those looking for a role in an exciting, fast paced organisation with a wide remit.

The dynamic nature of the role will require the post holder to have excellent time management, organisational and prioritisation skills.


This role offers the opportunity for considerable development and career progression within EMR, whether this be Commercial, Operations or other business areas.


What you will be doing:

  • To work closely with the UK Director on delivery of Yard Operations, Transport, Shredders, Site Services and Port Operations.
  • To support the daytoday operations of the UK Trading Function through a range of coordination tasks.
  • To work with a range of business stakeholders to monitor and progress operational projects.
  • To deliver events across UK Operations scheduling, organising and ensuring smooth running of key activities.
  • To represent UK Operations at business events and meetings; organising and gathering documents and arranging logistics
  • To undertake research and benchmarking tasks.
  • To draft, organise and review communications on behalf of the Operations Director
  • To collaborate and communicate across a range of stakeholders from Board to Operational level.
  • To keep the Operations Director advised of time sensitive and priority issues.

About you:

This role would suit a Graduate or someone with industry experience looking for further development in Operations, Commercial and Planning skills.

The degree type is flexible but this role would best suit Business, Engineering or Commercially orientated degrees, or a number of years' experience after completing A Levels.


Additional requirements / experience:

  • Holds a current UK driving licence
  • Able to travel across the UK including nights away if required
  • Be selfmotivated and proactive, maintain high levels of ethics, integrity and professionalism
  • Take ownership of work activities, proactively manage their own diary and react quickly to issues which are outside their remit to find an appropriate solution.
  • Have an interest in the recycling sector, metals and trading
  • Able to quickly develop working relationships with people from all areas of the business
  • Attend meetings, training courses and company events as required
  • Comply with company health, safety and environmental policies
  • Ensure safe working and ensures that their working environment is kept tidy
  • Comply with all written or verbal instructions given to ensure personal safety and the safety of others
