Personal Care Assistant / Support Worker required to assist an 18-year-old male with a Learning Disability living in the Uddingston area.
The young adult has a calm and easy-going nature but has very limited verbal communication.
You will be required to provide one to one care and assistance within their home, and in the community, including participation in social activities.
- Accompanying the person to activities either by car or public transport
- Preparing meals and healthy snacks
- Walking, cycling, and assisting with participation in some physical activities
- Any other daily living tasks to promote independent living
Driver not essential but optional using your own vehicle - mileage allowance will be paid at 45 pence per mile.
Must take a proactive and innovative approach to support and encourage individual to be involved in activities suited to their needs.
Experience is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
The most important qualities are a warm, calm and friendly nature and a desire to work within a caring role.
Hours of Work (with a degree of flexibility)
Recruiting for one permanent position (term time only)
Days and times:
Monday 8.30am until 4pm and Tuesday 8.30am until 4pm during term time.
Additional term time week days may be available, particularly in the month of June.
No weekends or evenings will be required.
Hourly rate:
£10.90 per hour or a higher rate which the employer deems justifiable.

If you are successfully hired you will be employed directly by a Private Employer and will be entitled to all statutory rights as set out by Employment Law such as paid holidays and statutory sick pay (where eligible).
- Take Control (South Lanarkshire) is a Self-Directed Support service based in South Lanarkshire, providing information and assistance to enable all eligible people to explore the 4 options for independent living outlined in the Self-Directed Support Act, now in force. Take Control is part of Glasgow Centre for Inclusive Living (GCIL), which is an established Disabled People's Organisation, with many years of experience assisting people to maximise their preferred support needs._
