We are a world leader in the design and manufacture of carbon fibre composites blades and electronic propeller control systems.

Dowty is also an EASA approved Type Certificate holder, giving us propeller design authority and responsibility for the continued airworthiness of propeller systems in-service.

Role Summary


There are two opportunities within this apprenticeship, Sourcing or Materials, we will work with you through the process to explain what each department so we can mutually decide where you best fit.

During your apprenticeship you will rotate between different teams either within our Sourcing Department or our Materials Department. You will be working various projects, learning new skills, and building your knowledge during each rotation.

You will gain a foundation in Supply Chain and deliver continuous improvement projects, working in cross functional teams whilst developing your knowledge.

Each step of the way you will work with a multitube of departments further supporting your development. You'll work under general supervision with regular reviews with your manager to support your performance & growth.


Some of the day-to-day sourcing activities include supporting our commodity leaders with sourcing and procurement activities such as sourcing, buying, and delivering every component and consumable that goes onto our products or supports our MRO facilities around the world.

This must all be delivered at the right time, for the right cost and to the right quality standards.

You could be involved in commercial activity such as influencing policy, financial analysis, engaging in contract law, and developing strategy to deliver services.


Some of the day-to-day materials activities include supporting the Materials team leaders and other members of the team with master scheduling, 13-week production planning, coordinating, and expediting flow of material through our shop, shipping processes including import & export documentation.


Achieving this apprenticeship will enable you to use your breadth and depth of experience to position yourself as a fully skilled Business Apprentice professional in a Manufacturing Supply Chain environment.


Qualifications/Requirements

  • 4 GCSE's (or equivalent) at grades C/4 or above which includes Science, Math and English language
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proven analytical and organisational ability
  • Able to manage multiple priorities
