The Role:

A fantastic opportunity has opened up for a Health Care Assistant to be part of a multidisciplinary team.

The post holder will carry out routine personal care and assist with routine examination duties for patients, in support of (and supervised by), a registered nurse/clinician.

They will ensure a person centred approach to care delivery which is safe and effective to ensure and maintain quality strategy.

They will also carry out assigned duties to maintain hygiene, order and safety within the ward/department environment.

Duties may vary with the type of ward or department and the degree of patient dependency.

What we'll need you to bring:

  • Knowledge of personal care and related procedures or previous volunteer or work experience in a health, education or social environment
  • Required to undertake on the job training and induction
  • Undertake mandatory HCSW standards
  • Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to carry out assigned tasks effectively in a busy environment
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology
  • Be flexible to work a variety of shifts

It would be great if you also have:

  • SVQ 11 in Health Care or working towards
  • Previous experience working within a caring environment/role
  • Previous experience as a support worker in an acute environment
  • Basic understanding of infection control
  • Ability to prioritise own workload and escalate appropriately

37.5 hours

Location and Working Pattern:

This role will be based in
ward 4 within
University Hospital Monklands.

The working pattern for this role: Fully rotational, including Nights and on call.
