Are you based in Yorkshire and passionate about growing museum audiences? Join the only UK museum dedicated to the history and stories of peace, peacemakers and peace movement.

The Peace Museum explores the history and the often untold stories of peace, peacemakers, social reform and peace movements. Having occupied three small galleries in one of Bradford's many fine Victorian buildings for the past 25 years, it is now in the process of moving to Salts Mill, Saltaire. It is unique in that it is the only accredited museum of its kind in the UK.

The audience and participation co-ordinator reports to the museum director and will deliver audience and participation activities to support the delivery of the Museum's Vision and Objectives.

The Mill is currently open to the public daily from Wednesday to Sunday, as well as on some Bank Holidays and additional days over the Christmas and school holiday periods. The Museum opening days will coincide with the days that Salts Mill is open to the public. The normal hours of work will be 371⁄2 hours per week. There will be some opportunities for remote working. Rostered weekend working within the museum will be required.

Responsibilities

Support the Museum Director in the development and delivery of the Audience and Participation Strategy and Plan to ensure that accessibility and inclusion are at the core of our offer, with a particular focus on underrepresented and local communities, and that we attract new audiences to the Museum.Research, develop and monitor audience participation in conjunction with the Learning & Engagement LeadDevelop methods of engaging with new and existing audiences including underrepresented and local communities, families and the general publicDevelop and implement a workplan to engage with all audiences through events and activitiesContribute to the development and delivery of a volunteer programme with a focus on members of the local communityUndertake planning and delivery of activities to evaluate and enhance the visitor experienceWork in conjunction with the Marketing and Communications Assistant to design and evaluate marketing and communications products for new and existing audiences and communitiesAssist with day-to-day operational tasks at the Museum, which may include: Providing administrative support, greeting visitors and Museum house-keeping Any other duties that may reasonably be required Knowledge, skills and experience

Essential

Experience of developing and implementing successful audience and participation plans, including for underrepresented audiencesExperience of designing and delivering activities to evaluate and enhance the visitor experienceExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to co-design compelling marketing and communications materialsExcellent interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively at all levelsAbility to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to workExperience of engaging with underrepresented audiencesCommitment to the Peace Museum's Vision, Objectives and Values Desirable Experience of working in a museum or other visitor-facing heritage setting We welcome and encourage applications from candidates who are under-represented in the creative industries.
