The Crown Estate is a unique business with a diverse portfolio that includes Central London properties, regional retail and leisure destinations, and offshore wind. We manage and invest in land and real estate on behalf of the Crown, generating significant revenue and contributing to the nation's prosperity. Purpose of the Role:
We are in the process of in-sourcing our London Client Finance team and seek a proactive Finance Director to lead a team of around 30 finance professionals. Your mission will be to on-board and stabilise the team, then define and implement a target operating model initially for our London operations - managing over £7bn in funds and generating revenues exceeding £200m - and subsequently extend this model across the enterprise, overseeing over £10bn in real estate funds with revenues exceeding £300m.
Change management is a significant element of the role as we streamline and digitise processes, drive performance and focus the team on providing exemplary customer service. Upon completing the transformation, you will transition steady-state operations to Business As Usual (BAU) management. Key Responsibilities:
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of ~30 finance professionals, initiallycovering service charge, client accounts, and credit control.
  • On-boarding and Stabilisation: Integrate the team being transferred from the current provider and hire externally, filling any vacancies.
  • Operational Model Development: Collaborate to design an operating model that supports the business, enhances customer service, drives performance, and creates career opportunities.
  • Enterprise Collaboration: Work closely with the London, Transformation, Digital, and Finance teams to implement the target operating model across the business.
  • Steady State Transition: Develop and execute a plan to hand over the client finance team's management to BAU.
  • Reporting Pack Development: Collaborate on designing a reporting pack for the London SBU and finance, providing accurate information for effective property management and financial control, and extend this to other SBUs as needed.
  • Ad-Hoc Projects: Manage additional projects and tasks as required.
    Knowledge, Experience, and Skills:
  • Accountancy qualification (Insert Qualifications here)
  • Proven experience in team leadership, change management, and performance management.
  • Expertise in process excellence.
  • Knowledge of property management, particularly in client accounting, service charge accounting, and credit control.
