This is an excellent opportunity to join the transformation of the UK's leading online veterinary brand. You will be responsible for owning the ecommerce technology stack, including websites, ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system and integrations to deliver an exceptional service to both customers and business users.

Working under the guidance of the Head of Technology, you will be fully briefed on the business's strategy and plans. In return, you will be expected to define the future commerce target architecture, produce an achievable plan to get there and deliver it.

Responsibilities:

This will be a varied role, requiring hands-on work, becoming the go-to person for all system and process activities relating to Ecommerce solutions. It is expected you will be reviewing the existing set up and delivering easy wins; investigating new technologies; preparing design documents; overseeing projects from a technical point of view (including security, NFRs perspective), ensuring third parties are delivering, providing incident response and supplier management; as well as refining the longer-term approach, including introducing transformational new approaches as we move towards DevOps (topics such as test automation, monitoring, environment management, continuous integration, and delivery).

Duties:

Responsible for defining technical solutions (70%):

• Be the technical subject matter expert for all Ecommerce solutions, including website and ERP, OMS, WMS systems. Lead and educate whilst overseeing the development agency and internal resources to deliver.

• Responsible for defining solutions for the entire technology backlog. Define and own overall system architecture, solution overviews, and integration specification documents.

• Partner with business and third-party developers to create clear and concise business requirements.

• Build relationships with distributed technology and business teams to ensure smooth running of projects to remain on track and meet requirements.

• Review solutions ensuring they meet design artefacts and requirements.

• Ensure robust processes in place to manage environments and deliver comprehensive testing (including exploring automated and regression testing).

•Start our journey towards DevOps based approaches.

Optimize existing solutions and establish new practices to increase technology team throughput (20%):

• Review and improve existing configurations across areas such as: order flow, delivery including drop ship, suppliers, purchase orders, batching, email templates, feeds to accounting systems and SQL reports for business users.

• Co-ordinate support activities, across PDOL team and third-party resources. Ensuring the level of support required for the business.

• Oversee all aspects of technology ensuring performance identifying and introducing new features and functions.

• Introduce culture and philosophy aligned to DevOps methodology (rapid iteration and fix forward etc). Better monitoring, controls, and automation around environment, testing and releases to increase the throughput of work through the Technology Team.

• Use disparate data sources such as customer feedback, data reports (SQL) & logs (monitoring tools) to identify and prioritize items in the backlog.

• Liaise with local and group colleagues to ensure aligned to policies and procedures (ensuring Security / Data Integrity, adhering to best practices and legislation (e.g.GDPR, VMD rules).

Administration and reporting (5%):

• Prepare reports and presentations for management as appropriate, communicating progress and forecasting to ensure projects are delivered on time and quality goals are met.

• Complete Personal Development Plan, working towards agreed objectives.

• Maintain an understanding of all policies and procedures.

• Undertake training as identified within Personal Development Plans and supervision.

• Role model best practice, acceptable behaviours and the values of the business.

For this role it is essential that candidates have a strong background in Ecommerce technology including front and backend website technologies, ERP and/or OMS (Order Management Systems) and WMS (Warehouse Management Systems). It is important you have an eye for detail and take pride in the quality of solutions to ensure we deliver a great user experience.

We are looking for an experienced Solution Architect looking to make a real impact to transform the business.

You will be required to apply your depth of knowledge and expertise to all aspects of the software development lifecycle, as well as strong communication skills to work with stakeholders to ensure delivery of common goals.

Ideally you will have experience and qualifications as a Solution Architect, having performed this role for many years.

2.Vast experience of data integration & manipulation, ideally in an API first environment (XML, JSON, APIs, Graph QL, advanced SQL reports, advanced Excel).

3.Vast knowledge of ERP /OMS / WMS technologies (Khaos, Microsoft Dynamics, Syspro, SAP, Oracle etc).

4.Solid understanding of software development methodologies such as Agile (Kanban, Scrum), DevOps or Waterfall.

5.Experienced Solution Architect, having applied this in multiple previous roles.

7.Actively mitigate roadblocks impacting successful team completion of release/sprint goals.

8.Ability to understand complex business problems and define meaningful solutions.

9.Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to generate and build effective relationships with team members.

10. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise resources.

11. IT Literate – able to use MS Office to manipulate data, present findings and work in ticketing systems (Zendesk, JIRA).Xxx
