Wholesale Credit & Lending (WCL) is an important contributor to the Group: it supports 80% of the revenues generated by Wholesale banking and forms a key part of the Group-wide transformation.

WCL Transformation & Delivery is responsible for delivering high priority programmes to simplify, digitise at scale and automate the credit and lending journey, as well as supporting the creation of a new, globally consistent credit and lending organisation serving both GB and CMB business lines which collectively build towards our vision of becoming a leader in digitally enabled domestic and cross border lending across network, by improving customer experience generating competitive advantage through use of data and participation in emerging borrowing models.

We are currently seeking experienced individuals to join this team in the role of Associate Director, Business Architecture – WCL. The roles will each focus on one of the following initiatives:

Model Management


• This suite of initiatives focuses on WCL transformation of model architecture, including the definition and maintenance of capital models and associated data strategy.

• The role will lead design thinking in the following areas:
o Model Lifecycle Management, including model development, submission, execution and monitoring in accordance with HSBC policies.
o Model inputs such as Financial Spreading & subjective questions.
o Model outputs such as Probability of Default, Loss Given Default, Exposure at Default, Slotting & Expected Credit Loss.
o Design standards for core capabilities such as the Parental Support Framework and Multiple Risk Ratings.


• Model coverage will include:
o Traditional use cases within regulatory reporting such as Regulatory Capital Pillar 1, IFRS9, CECL and stress testing.
o Emerging use cases such as Environmental, Social & Governance and Automated & Assisted Decisioning.


• The candidate should be able to demonstrate how to build relationships with key model management stakeholders such as Financial Risk Management, Strats, Group Risk Analytics and Financial Engineering colleagues.

• The candidate will preferably have experience in modelling infrastructure (design and/or delivery).

Requirements


• Credit and Lending experience is essential
o Some exposure to C&L, operations and/or stakeholders

• Business Architect experience recommended
o Held a number responsibilities associated with Business Architecture and Operating Model design

• Transformation experience recommended
o Has experience of working on change projects


• Scored lending experience is recommended
o Sales, automated decisioning/scored lending, or operating model design experience with digital end-to-end journeys

• Distribution experience is recommended
o Sales, risk management, or operational experience with syndications, CLO, CDS or NPI

• Regulatory change programmes or risk experience is recommended
o Some experience with risk approvals, model management, or regulation

• Collateral management process experience is recommended
o Some experience with collateral issuance and management process

• Ability to deal with complex requirements

• Ability to meet exacting timescales

• Strong analytical background with a high degree of attention to detail

• Background working in cross-functional teams to drive requirements capture

• Experience in business and process analysis, change initiatives & re-engineering

• Experience in planning and deploying both business and IT initiatives

• Evidence of self-development across a number of disciplines
