The Opportunity


As Interim Head of AFC Operations you will be responsible for the design and on-going management of the Fraud and AML frameworks, which includes the ownership of strategy and accountability for optimising anti-financial crime operations as well as building all procedures and processes for both functions.


You will also be required to support the build out and refinement of key systems such as PEPS and Sanctions screen tools, card fraud prevention tools and AML transaction monitoring tools.


Your Responsibilities:

  • Build a framework for financial crime, Anti Money Laundering (AML), Counter Terrorist Financing (CTF) and sanctions compliance & controls.
  • Provide advice on AML, CTF and Sanctions obligations and embed the processes into the new operation.
  • Manage AML compliance with analytics and scoring tools built inhouse.
  • Recognise key risk indicators and proactively resolve recurring issues and streamline processes.
  • Coordinate the onboarding and inflight process, including the collection of customer/client information required to complete the due diligence profile (at varying risk levels).
  • Handle decisionmaking associated with PEP, Sanction & Enforcement alerts at onboarding and inlife.
  • Maintain knowledge of all applicable Financial Crime legislation, regulatory changes and industry best practice.
  • Work closely with the 2nd line on due diligence, PEPs, sanction and enforcement matters including liaison with the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across the business to meet role objectives and deliver key activities.
  • Provide management analysis and commentary for AML & Fraud performance, trends, issues, and actions.
  • Build a framework for Fraud Management Compliance & control.
  • Manage all nonmodelling requirements for fraud management.
  • Construct policy/strategy and executional needs for a fraud management program and assist with its development, sizing, and execution
  • Support fraud governance and fraud reporting requirements (policy compliance, performance visàvis guardrails and benchmarks, ensure accuracy and promptness of reporting processes).
  • Provide strong technical and financial crime regulatory guidance and knowledge on how to mitigate and control for risk to internal and external stakeholders and take accountability for delivery for the Card part of Railsr's business.

Your Profile
Skills & Experience

  • Strong knowledge across all areas of the UK financial crime regulatory regime including AML, CTF, Sanctions, PEPs, ABC and tax evasion.
  • Track record in building out technical solutions to support a financial crime framework.
  • Proven track record of seeking out opportunities for delivering change for continuous improvement in the fraud and AML sector.
  • Experience of developing rules for fraud and AML.
  • Experience of working with the FCA.
  • Knowledge and experience of Operations, including process optimisation and performance efficiencies.
