Role Overview:

The Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist will ensure the highest quality standards are maintained throughout the Secure by Design initiative within the Cyber Resilience Programme. The QA Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing QA processes, conducting rigorous testing, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and policies.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

· Quality Assurance Processes:

o Develop and implement comprehensive QA processes and standards tailored to the Secure by Design initiative.

o Ensure all QA processes align with Defence and government cyber security standards and policies.

· Testing and Evaluation:

o Design and execute test plans, scenarios, scripts, and procedures to ensure software and systems meet defined requirements.

o Conduct manual and automated testing to identify and document defects, ensuring they are addressed before deployment.

· Compliance and Documentation:

o Ensure all deliverables comply with relevant legal, regulatory, and organisational standards.

o Prepare and maintain detailed QA documentation, including test cases, test results, and defect logs.

· Collaboration and Communication:

o Work closely with project managers, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure QA processes are integrated throughout the project lifecycle.

o Communicate findings and provide recommendations for improvement to ensure the highest standards of quality and security.

· Continuous Improvement:

o Continuously monitor and improve QA processes based on feedback, industry best practices, and emerging threats.

o Stay current with evolving QA methodologies, tools, and best practices to ensure ongoing relevance and effectiveness.

Essential Skills and Experience:

· Education and Experience:

o Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

o Minimum of 5 years' experience in quality assurance, preferably within a cyber security environment.

· Technical Skills:

o Strong understanding of QA methodologies, tools, and processes.

o Proficiency in manual and automated testing tools (e.g., Selenium, JIRA, HP ALM).

o Experience with testing frameworks and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java).

· Interpersonal Skills:

o Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

o Strong written and verbal communication skills.

o Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

· Certifications:

o Relevant certifications such as ISTQB, CSTE, or CSQA are highly desirable.

· Security Clearance:

o SC (Security Check) clearance is mandatory. Applicants must have current SC clearance or be eligible to obtain it.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

· Previous experience working within Defence organisations or government sectors.

· Familiarity with MOD cyber assurance processes and governance structures.

· Experience with Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies.

· Knowledge of secure coding practices and software development lifecycle (SDLC).

· Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
