Group Head of Health & Safety

Job Summary: The Group Head of Health and Safety will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the health and safety policies and procedures for multiple sites across the group. This is a newly created role with the scope to evolve and drive positive change. Playing a crucial part in ensuring the well-being of our employees, clients, and the communities in which we operate. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of health and safety regulations, a proven track record of implementing successful safety programs, and the ability to lead and inspire The Airedale Group to a best in class Health and Safety strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Engage with stakeholders to gather information and review current business processes.
  2. Working collaboratively with all departments to integrate safety practices into daily operations.
  3. Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety policies, procedures, and programs for the entire organization.
  4. Develop a strategic roadmap that will ensure best in class H&S practices across the group.
  5. Conduct regular risk assessments and ensure the implementation of effective control measures.
  6. Identify and report safety performance trends, working with relevant internal stakeholders to develop improvement plans.
  7. Provide leadership and direction to a team of safety professionals, ensuring a consistent and proactive approach to health and safety.
  8. Conduct training sessions to educate employees on safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
  9. Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  10. Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and best practices to continuously improve the company's safety programs.
  11. Define and embed a safety culture across all levels of the business.
  12. Create a training matrix, that will ensure all employees attend relevant training sessions and understand the correct policies and procedures to follow.

Requirements:

  1. NEBOSH qualified as a minimum/ Diploma would be advantageous.
  2. Professional membership to IOSH or APS is desirable.
  3. A minimum of 3 years' experience in a lead Health and Safety role.
  4. Previous experience in a multi-site role.
  5. Passionate about improving systems, processes, and the customer experience.
  6. Experience in conducting safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
  7. A proactive and strong communicator with the ability to engage stakeholders and influence change.
  8. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing effective health and safety programs.
  9. Analytical mindset with the ability to assess risks and develop proactive strategies.
  10. Strong leadership skills with proven success in driving a positive working culture.
