The role:


We have multiple opportunities for a Service Readiness Lead to join our team who will be responsible for leading the Service Readiness activity on assigned Digital focused projects, playing a key role to support the evolution of our mobile banking and online banking platforms.

You will act as the 'gatekeeper' in the transition of new or changed service into live to minimise risk and project operational services for the Co-operative Bank.


You could be joining us to support with the introduction of changes to our IT services, interpreting business requirements, leading on service design, assessing the impact, leading Go no/go call and ensuring readiness to move into an operational environment.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Performing Service Readiness activities for a range of projects, in line with business demand and growth and lead with development of Service Design package.
  • Support Delivery Leads and Product Owners on assigned projects to ensure that new and changed IT services can be operated, supported and maintained.
  • Communicating the Service Readiness and Change & Release process to all stakeholders.
  • Drive service aspects of solution design and transition throughout the IT project lifecycle
  • Shaping service models, identifying gaps in operational support and working with Operational teams to make recommendations.
  • Managing the production and governance of Service Readiness outputs, including MI, process documentation and communication packs
  • Ensure Go-Live and Warranty Exit events are fit for presentation at Bank IT CAB and have effective support models, to enable facilitation of key decision meetings.
  • Ensure the quality of the Service Readiness enables operational support teams to take on support without impact to service from golive and enduring support models are in place
  • Managing, tracking, reporting and escalating as necessary, progress on Service Readiness activity and deliverables. Resolving escalations to minimise impact on the business.
  • Develop strong relationships with IT Service Owners and key Business Stakeholders.
  • Keep abreast of industry developments and lead the governance of the ITIL processes/practices in relation to service design & transition to ensure that key practices are maintained to agreed standards.
  • Conduct service design and change & release reviews with both IT partners and 3rd Parties for feedback and identification of issues, ensuring we are continually improving and delivering excellent Service Readiness discipline.
  • Ensure the solutions deliver value for money and results in a simpler IT estate

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Specialist/expert capabilities and knowledge in ITIL practices / processes
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills. PRINCE2 qualification and/or Project Management experience is desirable, ability to create plans of key milestones and dependencies
  • Sound financial management and commercial skills
  • Considerable understanding of the industry, political environment, regulatory and legislative issues
  • Experienced in managing the transition of new or changed IT Services into BAU
  • Understanding of IT approach to testing IT infrastructure and Applications
  • Ability to see the big picture, analyse complex delivery schedules and evaluate ways to meet expectations; including alignment to Business Change Management and the Release Pipeline
  • Highly developed communication, influencing and negotiation skills, able to present effectively at major meeting and to senior stakeholders
  • Line management and leadership capabilities
  • Experience of working with development teams and a defined project methodology
