This role has been created due to the expansion and reorganisation of the Navigation Directorate so that Trinity House can continue to fulfil its statutory duties for maritime safety.

The Navigation Policy Advisor will be an essential role in the directorate and you will contribute to, and influence, our operational output which supports the trade and prosperity of the UK.


Your role will be to provide advice to stakeholders on the policies surrounding the provision of aids to navigation on marine projects including offshore energy developments and Trinity House's requirements on the statutory marking of these projects following the appropriate (IALA) guidelines.

Stakeholders include Government and Regional Assembly departments, Environmental Bodies, Oil and Gas developers, Ports, Local Authorities and members of the public.


You will also work closely with the rest of the navigation directorate ensuring that our statutory function of the superintendence and management of some 11,500 local aids to navigation around England and Wales is carried out effectively.

This will include managing our Local Aids to Navigation Reporting System database, monitoring standards of local aids to navigation and ensuring the effective administration of documentation.


We are looking for a personable, dynamic and motivated team player who can prioritise and work with mínimal supervision as well as being comfortable working collaboratively in a team.

You will need strong organisational and communication skills and the ability to quickly form productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
