Support Worker Young People

Shifts:


To cover - 1 x 24hr shift per week (14 hrs day shift and Overnight 11pm to 9am 9am to 12 Midday ) = 1 x 24hr shift each week.

SESSIONAL WORKER - one

To cover 1 x 24 hrs shift on a Thursday only (14 hrs day shift and Overnight 11pm to 9am 9am to 12 Midday ) = 1 x 24hr shift each week.

The timesmay varyon 1 day a month depending on needs of client .

Rate of Pay:
£12.00 per hour

Days and times of work:
one day over the week. Rolling 3 weekly Rota
Hrs between 9am and 11pm and sleeping shift nights 11pm 9am. To 9am to Midday.

Previous experience or training in working with young adults with extra support needs desirable , but full training will be given .

Y ou will need a clean drivers licence.
Plus the flexibility to be part of a good working team.
Duties;

To assist with the socialising of a young man age 2y with a placid nature who requires extra support needs, this will include taking the young person out in his own car to various activities.

Other duties will include assisting with personal care as required and administering and keeping medication records.
The young man has mobility, but at uses a wheelchair.
The young man lives in his own tenancy in Dundonald with a Support Team.

It is important to recognize that the care you are employed to assist with will be provided within his home, therefore confidentiality and respect for his privacy and daily routine is of the utmost importance.

The tasks you may be required to do will vary, according to the needs of the young man and will include the following:

Personal tasks:
Assistance - Reminding him to take his medication
Help with showering, bathing, and drying
Assistance using the toilet this may include changing pads.

Assistance with eating, drinking cutting up his food The young man has a soft diet and will require some foods to be liquidised.

Personal Appearance;
Assistance with shaving
Dressing
Oral hygiene
Foot care
Drying and styling hair
These will be completed on a regular basis throughout the week or when needed , dietary requirements;
Cooking and Preparing a meal
Making a sandwich and drinks
I require some foods liquidised and that I am severely allergic to any foods that contain eggs. ( I have an Epi Pen for emergencies, training will be given )

Household Tasks:
To be completed for the person you are employed to assist.
Keeping the kitchen clean and tidy, mopping floors
Household cleaning, which will include the bathroom, bedroom etc
Laundry, Ironing
Changing bedding / changing bedding in the staff room
Dusting, Hoovering
General tasks when required;
Going to the local shops / assisting with shopping
Reporting any faults with any equipment used by the family
Light household maintenance e.g changing a light bulb using the appropriate equipment e.g ladders.
Social activities / outings you may be required to assist with;
Trips to the Cinema/Theatre
Going Swimming
Horse riding / Mobility Bikes - Wed
Disco on a Mon night
Going to appointments
Going to the shops
Meeting Friends/Family
Assisting with Leisure Activities
Going out in the evenings
Going for a walk
Driving STAFF Will require to have A full clean driving licence
You may be asked to accompany the Young Man on Holiday (Paid)

Personal Assistant Hours and Days of Work:
The earliest start time will be _9am to 11pm and sleepover is 11pm = 9am then 9amto Midday.
The Wage rate is £12.00 per hour , for all hrs worked
Wages are paid 4 weekly in arrears, by BACS Transfer.
There are 5.6 weeks paid A/L attached to this post.
Annual leave to be discussed at interview.

This Job Description is set around the young mans needs as is the rota and either may change in the future according to his support needs.

There is a 6 month probationary period attached to the post

The Successful applicants will be required to undergo the New PVG Disclosure, or update Disclosure, the employer will pay the fee of £18 / £59, but if you leave the employment within the 6 months probationary period the employer reserves the right to recoup this cost from your wages.

If successful a copy of your driving licence and car insurance (including business insurance) may be required, if using you own car.
