Pinhoe View is a purpose built acute inpatient service, providing a safe and stabilising environment for women aged 18+ in crisis or who are experiencing an acute episode of mental illness and require an emergency admission.


You will be part of the team providing person-centred care and treatment, focused on recovery, to allow people to return home as quickly as possible.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing psychological assessments of service users based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological (and neuropsychological) tests, selfreport measures, rating scales directand indirect structured observations and semistructured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the service users' care.
  • Developing formulations and supporting staff to implement psychologically informed care plans.
  • Leading and supporting staff with weekly reflective practice and offer clinical support to staff as required.
  • Providing learning and development solutions in the form of training days for staff on personality disorder and other complex mental health illness.
  • Ensuring that Psychology practices in the specified area of service maintains the highest standards of professional practice and ethics, always complying with clinical governance standards.
  • Working effectively as a team member, ensuring the timely delivery of psychological assessment and interventions within the service area.
  • Ensuring the confidentiality, security and accuracy of data and information and compliance with Regulatory guidelines and statutory requirements.
  • Maintaining evidence standards of competence as defined by the HCPC and BPS.
  • Providing line management and supervision to the assistant psychologists.
  • Supporting and completing internal investigations/complaints/audits.

To be successful in this role, you'll need the following skillset and qualifications:

  • Possess competence in assessing, formulating, and working therapeutically with service users in the service area.
  • Have an uptodate knowledge of legislation and its implications for the profession and the client groups we work with.
  • Be able to identify and proactively resolve problems and challenges within the service.
  • Successful completion of a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology enabling registration with the HCPC as a Practitioner in Psychology.
  • Registered with the HCPC as a Practicing Psychologist and Charterable status with the British Psychological Society.
  • Competency in psychological assessment and formulation skills and an aptitude for learning new assessment methods.
  • Competency with risk assessment/management tools and formulation.
  • Experience using relevant skills to address a range of clinical and/or forensic issues.
