Role Description

This is a freelance contract Casting producer role at Bloody Norah TV. You will be responsible for working closely with the Executive Producers and Series Producer supporting the day-to-day operations. You will need to understand the ambition of the series, the content, the channels requirements and the time it will be transmitted, so you can cast a suitable and diverse range of people. The Role You will lead a specialist casting team of two assistant producers and two researchers, organising job descriptions and role responsibilities, devise a schedule and oversee the casting process. We will look to the casting producer to shortlist contributors to interview. If you have skills to shoot and edit the interviews, making short, concise 'taster tapes' along with a written research 'brief', please outline this in your covering letter. The Contract & Office base This will run between May and early October 2024. This will be an office based job. We ask the candidate to work at least 4 days in the office per week. You have a natural interest in people, an ability to spot great characters, be a great communicator and know how to put people at ease Research: have a great contacts book covering many different areas, know where to find the people with the potential to become a great contributor
Content: understand the audience, format and purpose of a show, know the type of people required and produce the most suitable and compelling cast
Organisation: manage a casting team and often a large number of applicants at various stages of a production
Caring: be concerned for the wellbeing of the cast, maintain regular contact to ensure they are happy with their involvement, store all personal contributor information safely and securely
Interest & Passion & Teamwork This factual entertainment series will suit someone interested in sport, entertainment, and will be ideal for someone who is happy to learn and build on their existing production skills, and work flexibly around the requirements of the job. Skills Organisational skills – personal efficiency, time management skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands are key
Be confident, pro-active and have the ability to work well as a team and to use their initiative when working by themselves.
Communication skills – ability to collaborate, manage diverse personalities and viewpoints; the ability to build relationships and collaborate with others is vital
Role modelling – demonstrate and lead on the values, initiatives and culture of an organisation
Coaching and mentoring – You will be proficient in developing skills and sharing knowledge with others
Good relationships with crew, production talent, on screen talent and all suppliers
Confidence - Responds to changing circumstances and is resilient, flexible, and willing to depart from plans when occasion demands
Collaboration - Work harmoniously in a team, whilst understanding the responsibility of authority and need to refer up when appropriate
Experience 5+ credits as Casting Producer
Experience working on unscripted series for UK or International Broadcast
Casting of contributors with DE&I requirements
Understanding of welfare needs for contributors
Understanding of screening needs for contributors
