The autism team provide multi disciplinary evidence based Autism assessments of children and young people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin aged 5-18 years.
As a member of the Autism team you will support in triaging referrals, undertaking standardised assessments, contributing to diagnostic discussions, providing feedback to families, and writing diagnostic reports.
As a band 6 mental health practitioner, you will have an active role in assessing and providing therapeutic interventions, working directly with children and young people and their families by deliver patient centred care to improve their mental health and wellbeing.
As part of the autism team you will ensure the delivery of high quality Autism assessments within the BeeU team.
The work is with children and young people aged 5-18 years with significant concerns around their social communication and interaction.
To ensure assessments are provided in line with NICE Guidance as well as other relevant local and national documentation.Demonstrate high personal standards in clinical practice.
As part of the specialist mental health team you will provide assessment and care planning in conjunction with service users and carers, evaluation of individual treatment plans and discharge planning.
Take responsibility for the management of a complex caseload, which includes, specialist assessment (within service specification), care-planning in conjunction with service user and carer, evaluation of individual treatment plans.

Main duties and responsibilities
- Provide diagnostic autism assessment and specialist mental health assessment and care planning in conjunction with service users and carers, evaluation of individual treatment plans and discharge planning.
- Take responsibility for the management of a complex caseload, which includes, specialist assessment (within service specification), care-planning in conjunction with service user and carer, evaluation of individual treatment plans. caseload to be determined by the operational lead and reviewed under Clinical supervision.
- Contribution as shift coordinator on some occasions to support with the screening and triage of referrals into the service. To formulate and action appropriate response based on need, risk and urgency. Respond to and inform referrers/other professionals and responsible adults as necessary on decisions, plans, policy and best practice. Record this on Trust systems (RIO and Safeguard).
- To develop a knowledge and understanding of local services and agencies to enable appropriate signposting is provided to referrers/young people and parents/carers.
- To liaise with and work collaboratively with pathways internally or externally to ensure that the needs of the young person are being met.
- To provide an active involvement in the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of care plans, risk assessment and relative outcome measures.
- To contribute to the clinical service development as part of the 0-25 Emotional Health and Wellbeing Service.
- Responsible for participating in the setting of quality standards, including the auditing, monitoring and reviewing of practice in line with current clinical guidance practice and policy.
