Here at The Big Issue Group we are seeking an Individual Giving Officer to help us in our mission to create innovative solutions through enterprise and to unlock social and economic opportunity for the 14.5m people in the UK living in relative poverty to earn, learn and thrive.


You will be responsible for raising unrestricted income from individuals by planning and executing the day-to-day campaigns to recruit, engage and retain supporters through a range of channels.

You will also be managing the content and design of supporter materials, working with a range of stakeholders and working with colleagues to identify individual stories that can be crafted into impactful content for use in contribution marketing campaigns.

You'll be joining a team with an ambitious new directorate to drive financial contributions via individual giving. Working into the team responsible for driving direct to consumer revenues within the Group Marketing Function.

Key responsibilities

  • Create, plan, deliver and evaluate multichannel, compliant, insightled, supportercentric campaigns to enable us to deliver both on individual contribution goals as well as/in line with wider organisational goals.
  • Managing production of supporter material.
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and liaise with external agencies and suppliers to effectively deliver projects and campaigns.
  • Regularly review, communicate and document key performance indicators across your campaigns and keep key stakeholders updated.
  • Work with colleagues to identify individual stories that can be crafted into impactful content for use in contribution marketing campaigns.
  • Work the revenue director to produce annual budgets and plans and develop the strategy to meet individual giving KPI's
  • Manage a continuous cycle of testing new channels and developing acquisition and retention for individual giving, based on audience insight and sector trends.
  • Monitor the Individual Giving activity is in line with compliance and best practice as per ICO, DMA and Fundraising Regulator.

Key Skills and Experience required

  • Experience of income generation from direct marketing campaigns (acquisition and/or retention) across a variety of offline and digital channels for acquisition and retention
  • Experience of project management to deliver acquisition or retention campaigns within agreed timescales and budgets
  • Effective campaign copy writing and ability to translate ideas into design briefs
  • Knowledge of Charity Law, Data Protection, Fundraising Code of Practice, and other relevant marketing or fundraising standards across the UK
