Main duties of the job
  • Provide nursing leadership and deliver care for a group of patients

Job description Job responsibilities Maintain registration with the NMC as a Nurse Promote the UHN and NGHT values within role and practice Work in a legal and ethical way, assessing mental capacity, seeking consent, and acting in best interest Adhere to the regulatory Code (NMC) and relevant standards of professional behaviour and practice, including continual professional development Prepare and maintain evidence for NMC revalidation Practice in accordance with NGHT policies and procedures Engage with the NGHT Quality Marked Preceptorship Programme over 12 months Undertake NMC Practice Assessor and Supervisor development Engage with each stage of the nursing process according to scope of practice, experience, and competence (assessment, planning, implementation and evaluations) Accurately formulate and maintain a range of nursing documentation in both written and electronic form Complete and manage risk assessments for patients in accordance with NGHT policies and procedures Ensure review dates for assessments and documents are achieved and completed Communicate effectively with patients and their significant others Communicate effectively with other health and social care professionals including but not limited to other Nurses, Medical Staff, AHPs and social care professionals Assess and formulate person centred care plans, promoting choice and independence at every opportunity Actively plan and engage for timely discharge, promoting safety and reducing risk Monitor patients for deterioration and escalate concerns in accordance with NGHT policies and procedures Monitor vitals signs and calculate NEWS 2 scores Undertake a range of clinical skills including but not limited to medication administration, catheterisation, venepuncture, cannulation 12 lead ECG acquisition, bowel care, wound care and nutrition (feeding)

About You:

You will registered or are eligible to register with the NMC as a Nurse (Adult or Child), having undertaken a Nursing Degree and clinical placements in the NHS. You will draw on a contemporary evidence base in nursing to inform care and will share your ideas and experience to improve care and services. You will be committed to engaging with the Preceptorship Programme in your initial 12 months of practice to consolidate your learning and develop your knowledge skills.
