About The Role:


We have an exciting opportunity for a Workforce Wellbeing Lead to join our team, based at Heathrow Immigration Removal Centre and supporting our healthcare teams across the London Region.


As Workforce Wellbeing Lead, your key responsibility will be to provide health and wellbeing support to our healthcare team at Heathrow IRC and within the London region in our prison healthcare services, driving our health and wellbeing agenda locally and providing support and sign posting to colleagues and line managers.


It is an autonomous role to bring together all of the aspects of workforce health and wellbeing, including training and awareness and the need to work with various leads and stakeholders in Practice Plus Group to make sure that we have a holistic and integrated approach to health and wellbeing.

Your role will be part of the team at Heathrow IRC and you will be part of the wider HR team within Health in Justice.


You will support our colleagues and people managers in the leadership and continuous improvement of the overall employee experience and engagement in relation to wellbeing, recognition, communication, performance, and learning and development in line with our business objectives, and in adherence with our company policies and initiatives.


Your key responsibilities

  • You will be accountable for assessing the health and wellbeing needs of the team and the response required in support of the workforce wellbeing plan for colleagues at Heathrow. You will ensure that the plan aligns with overarching Practice Plus Group Health in Justice Wellbeing Plan and best practice in terms of workplace health and wellbeing.
  • You will promote and adhere to all company policies and procedures and health and wellbeing initiatives.
  • You will develop and manage relationships with stakeholders and people managers to ensure we are educating our managers to manage staff health and wellbeing well and work in conjunction with the Head of Healthcare to address the staff survey action plans (Over to You) in relation to any feedback regarding health and wellbeing support at work.
  • Together with the HR and L&OD team, you will ensure that clear expectations are set regarding the role of managers in supporting wellbeing at work and that non clinical and clinical staff are working together in successful teams to achieve our objectives around colleague health and wellbeing.
  • You will develop and put forward proposals for action in relation to health and wellbeing. You will collaborate with internal and external resources to identify the options available to support our people.
  • You will provide wellbeing interventions, where identified as being appropriate, including oversight of TRIM (Trauma informed incident management) to support with the management of traumatic and serious incidents.
  • You will deliver a combination of health and wellbeing interventions or ensure the delivery of these via different means, including identification of best practice approaches that will inform our wellbeing plan and activity.
  • You will carry out research projects and lead on the development and implementation of new wellbeing initiatives. You will develop and promote new procedures associated with wellbeing, including the development and provision of training to managers and employees, and new publicity material. You will attend internal and external events and meetings as required to promote existing and new developments.

About You:

Key Skills & Experience

  • CIPD Level 5 or equivalent qualification or experience in workforce health and wellbeing
  • Up to date knowledge of health and safety legislation
  • Experience and/or knowledge of supporting critical incident management and using this to support wellbeing at work in stressful work environments
  • Experience of supporting health and wellbeing in complex teams/environments
  • Experienced in developing both internal and external strategic partner relationships and alliances in progressing a best practice Health and Wellbeing strategy/plan
  • Experience in facilitation and training and coaching and mentoring experience
  • Experience of working with a diverse range of stakeholders including a successful track record of influence and engagement.
  • Demonstrate a successful track record of delivering effective workforce health and wellbeing strategies
  • Extensive indepth demonstrable success in delivering new workforce health and wellbeing approaches and changes to practice by working with management teams, by engaging them in the strategic direction and delivery plans, establishing clear work priorities with them.
  • Shows creativity through problem solving and decision making
