  • Location: Hybrid, 2 to 10 days per month in Andover, Hampshire office

About the Role:

As a Senior Development Editor within the NGL Global ELT Publishing team, you will play a crucial role in developing multi-level, multi-component educational programs across various delivery formats. Your work will involve researching, planning, and creating products that cater to customer needs while reinforcing National Geographic Learning's presence in the industry. The ideal candidate will possess educational expertise, knowledge of classroom practices, awareness of educational trends, and the ability to generate innovative ideas that prioritize customer satisfaction and meet project deadlines and budgets.

Responsibilities:

Product Development

  • Contribute to new product concepts that enhance teaching and learning, align with NGL values, satisfy customer requirements, and incorporate the latest educational research.
  • Edit course content at all stages of development, leveraging language pedagogy knowledge.
  • Manage schedules, oversee interdependencies, and ensure timely delivery across different components and levels.
  • Collaborate with digital teams to develop and deliver digital components as per specifications and schedules.
  • Supervise and guide external contributors like authors and editors, providing clear briefs and feedback.
  • Work closely with cross-departmental teams to foster collaboration and communication.
  • Monitor project budgets and ensure adherence to protocols and rights clearance.
  • Proactively address development issues and troubleshoot as necessary.

Market Engagement

  • Understand the target audience and incorporate insights into editorial decisions and collaborations with freelancers.
  • Stay updated on competitor offerings through research and customer interactions.
  • Conduct market research to enhance product development and gather customer feedback.
  • Engage with key accounts to improve the product and drive sales.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Brief internal teams on product concepts and integration of content.
  • Engage with Sales and Marketing stakeholders to align strategies and enhance product readiness.
  • Support marketing and sales activities, including training sessions for sales representatives.

Contribution to Staff Development and Continuous Improvement

  • Enhance editorial workflows by participating in improvement initiatives and sharing knowledge.
  • Mentor junior team members and facilitate their professional growth.

Requirements:

  • B.S. or B.A. degree or equivalent
  • Experience in ELT teaching and textbook publishing
  • Proficiency in English language and content editing
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team
  • Desire for continuous improvement and innovation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • English language teaching qualification
  • Classroom teaching experience
  • Proficiency in an additional language, especially Asian or European
  • Expertise in literacy-based approaches or international curricula
