This is an exciting opportunity to join an expandingmultidisciplinary team. We are seeking to recruit part-time to full timeenthusiastic, self-motivated experienced Phlebotomists as a new service, to work alongside ourfriendly and supportive team. The service will run across Monday toFriday with phlebotomists responsible forperforming venepuncture to obtain blood samples from patients, ensuring thatsamples are accurately labelled and prepared for collection.
Main duties of the job
Toprovide high quality patient care, ensuring that the patient is comfortable and confirming their agreement to thecollection of the blood samples.
Obtainblood specimens by performing venepunctures and fingerstick; collection ofblood in accordance with training and procedures.
Ensuringthat the samples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories and the correctinformation is added to patients clinical record.
Maintaina safe, secure, and healthy working environment by following standards andprocedures, complying with legal regulations

Argyll House Surgery has been providing an excellent standard of medical care to thousands of patients in Ryde, Wootton Bridge and the surrounding villages for more than 25 years.
Our team includes GPs, practice nurse, healthcare assistant as well as a Clinical Pharmacist, Practice Manager, reception and secretarial staff. We run a full range of general practice services with special clinics for babies, pregnant women and patients with certain conditions. At the surgery we aim to treat all patients promptly, courteously and in complete confidence.

Job descriptionJob responsibilities
The following list serves to illustrate the scope and responsibilities of the post and is not intended to be exclusive.
Working under the direct supervision of the Lead practice nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the post-holder will be responsible for performing venepuncture to obtain blood samples from patients only as the result of a direct referral from a GP or nurse practitioner.Ensure that the patient is comfortable and confirming their agreement to the collection of the blood sample.
Obtain blood specimens by performing venepunctures and fingerstick; collection of blood in accordance with training and procedures.
Ensuring that the samples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories and the correct information is added to patients clinical record.
Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy working environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations
Maintain clinical areas
Work collaboratively as part of the nursing team, seeking guidance when necessary for patient related matters
Maintain accurate records and data on Treatment Room activities, using our clinical system
Work as an effective team member and promote a multi-disciplinary collaborative approach to health care
Report and record any clinical incidents as per the Practice policy
Attend performance and development reviews and complete all mandatory training as appropriate to your role
Work additional hours to help cover holidays and sickness.
Ensure confidentiality at all times, only releasing confidential information obtained during the course of employment to those acting in an official capacity in accordance with policies and Caldicott guidelines
Carry out other duties commensurate with the grade as directed.
Have a good understanding of Practice policies and procedures

Essential
Qualifications: GCSE (Level 2), to include English and Maths at grade C or aboveDesirable
Experience in primary care - General Practice PhlebotomistExperience

Experience in a Phlebotomist role Excellent patient care skills ICT experience in using Microsoft office Ability to understand and learn new clinical software Good communication and organisational skills.Desirable
Experience in using SystmOne (clinical software)Qualities and Attributes
