We are seeking to appoint a Family Support Worker to join our pastoral team. They will play an important role in improving students' attendance and punctuality by working with students who struggle to attend school regularly and on time.

The Role

To improve the attendance and punctuality of students by reducing persistent and unauthorised absences which will include:

  • Working with students who struggle to attend school regularly and/or struggle to deal with difficult situations that arise during the school day.
  • Working with students and families to create good habits to improve attendance.

Hours of work

The role is term time only (plus INSET days) working 36 hours Monday to Friday. The hours of work are between 8am and 4pm with an unpaid lunch break. Exact times of work and breaks will be agreed with the successful candidate.

  • Have previous experience of working with young people
  • Be committed to improving the life chances of all students
  • Be caring and empathetic while remaining calm under pressure

Our School

Carshalton High School for Girls, a member of the Girl's Learning Trust, is a high achieving school in the suburbs of south London. Confirmed as "Good" by Ofsted in January 2023, we achieved our best exam results to date in Summer 2023.

The school is a short walk from Carshalton station with London Victoria is approximately a 30 minute journey by Southern trains and London St Pancras is approximately 45 minutes by Thameslink. The school is also within car and bus commuting range of south London and Surrey.
