As a Senior Planning Officer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Taking a lead role in the development and delivery of planning policies, strategies, and projects.
  • Managing and assessing planning applications, providing expert advice, and ensuring adherence to relevant regulations.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to shape future development plans and improve the overall quality of our city.
  • Conducting site visits, preparing reports, and presenting recommendations to the Planning Committee.
  • Keeping up-to-date with changes in planning legislation and participating in continuous professional development activities.

Experience:

  • Conduct thorough research and analysis on planning applications and proposals
  • Provide expert advice on planning matters to internal and external stakeholders
  • Assess the environmental impact and sustainability of proposed developments
  • Prepare reports and presentations for planning committees and public consultations
  • Collaborate with other teams and departments to ensure compliance with planning policies and regulations
  • Chartered Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI)

Note: Due to the nature of this role, a valid driving licence is required.

Technologies:

  • Proficiency in planning software (e.g., ArcGIS, AutoCAD)
  • Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project)
