We have an exciting opportunity to work as part of a growing team, working in a truly unique environment at the UK's number 1 zoo As part of the Food and Beverage team, the Events Team / Shift Leader will support the Assistant Manager with the daily supervision of the team working in our stunning new upcoming wedding and events venue 'The Square'.

The Role


As part of our team working in The Square, you'll support with the daily supervision of the front of house team, all while maintaining our exceptionally high standards.

The Square is part of our heritage zone and also includes our award winning gastro-pub, 'The Oakfield', where you will also support with events and general pub/restaurant duties when required.


You will:

  • Provide support to the running of a busy event venue, delivering conferences, weddings and unique events, ensuring that standards and services offered to guests are operating to a world class standard
  • Motivate, train and mentor team members to deliver an exceptional guest experience
  • Receive payments and handle cash and ensure that all team members are also doing so correctly in accordance with Zoo policies. Complete cashing up at the end of the day, ensuring all accounts balance including the safe
  • Ensure all team members are adhering to policies, developing standard operating procedures and safe working practices including food safety systems, ensuring health and safety, licencing, and other legislation is strictly observed
  • Ensure high standards of housekeeping, in all event spaces, so all are clean and well presented at all times.
  • Support with stock control, including ordering to ensure correct stock levels on a daily basis, accepting deliveries, ensuring they are correct and rotating stock as required

The Package
You'll be working a variety of shifts, including days and evenings for events such as weddings and corporate functions.

Contract hours are 40 hours per week, 5 days out of 7 on a rota basis including weekends and bank holidays.

Overtime will be paid for all agreed additional hours above this.

  • Permanent contract
- £22,844.02 per annum (equivalent of £10.98 per hour) based on 40 hours per week

Our Requirements

  • Experience of supervising and motivating a team in a highvolume business, preferably an events venue
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Cash handling experience including balancing of safe/float/tills.
  • Good working knowledge and experience of Health & Hygiene Safety processes
  • Excellent communication and coaching skills
  • Understanding of current food & beverage and events trends
