Volunteer Crime Scene Co-Ordinator

Who we are:


West Midlands Police (WMP) and Warwickshire (WKS) is one of the largest collaboration Police Forces in the country, we serve a diverse area and deal with multiple crime types.

The Forensic Scene Investigation (FSI) department consists of 58 FSI and 16 Crime Scene Co-ordinators (CSC) and we are based over four locations within the West Midlands and Warwickshire.

FSI and CSC attend a wide range of incidents to effectively investigate, examine, retrieve, secure and where necessary record an incident by means of photography and/or 3D scan.

We recover and package evidence and submit these to other areas of the forensic services unit, including the Fingerprint Development Lab, the Fingerprint Bureau, the Major Crime Lab and to external forensic providers.


Why we need your help:

Forensic Scene Investigators and Crime Scene Coordinators rely on the support of volunteers to assist with our service delivery. We are constantly striving to improve our service to the public to improve confidence in policing.

The support you can provide will vary from assisting with general office administration, working on research project's or using your skills to meet the requirement of the Quality Management System.

This is a challenging role where the needs of the department may change dynamically, with little notice.

  • Strong Administrative skills

Hours


We are looking for volunteers to commit at least 16 hours per month, ideally for a minimum of 3 months.

Time and date to be agreed with the department supporting the attachment.

Vetting:

Successful applicants will need to complete NPPV level 2 vetting and CTC.

Volunteers are eligible to claim £5.00 towards their lunch if they volunteer over 4 hours on given day.
