This position is mostly remote, we meet up as a team every 6 weeks for 3 days to come together and collaborate as a team face to face.

HybridAero is an early-stage start-up revolutionizing General Aviation by developing software that optimizes the configuration design of hybrid-electric aircraft.

Our mission is to realise the potential of electric propulsion for regional aircraft, enabling a step change in performance, sustainability and cost of regional aviation.

We seek a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Powertrain Engineer to join our dynamic team.

This role involves developing and enhancing our proprietary software, which is designed to identify the most effective configurations for hybrid-electric propulsion systems in aircraft.

The ideal candidate will possess a robust electrical engineering background, especially aviation-related, and demonstrate advanced proficiency in an object-oriented programming language - preferably Python.

Electrical Powertrain Engineer - Responsibilities:

Design, simulate, and implement software solutions that calculate optimal performance layouts for hybrid-electric propulsion systems for aircraft.

As subject matter expert on electric powertrains within the company be able to communicate architecture and design decisions effectively to other stakeholders.


Conduct extensive testing and validation of software models and powertrain systems.

Analyze and interpret data to provide strategic insights and refine system performance.

Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies in electrical engineering and
general aviation to drive continuous improvement in our software tools.
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. A PhD is a plus.

Strong preference for hands-on experience in a closely related role and for candidates with a background in aviation and hybrid-electric systems.


Expert-level proficiency in Python or equivalent, with experience in software development for engineering applications.

Proven track record of developing and leading complex engineering projects.

Strong self-motivation, preferred experience with hybrid or fully remote working.
