Role Summary
The company is seeking two scientists with a strong background in cell and molecular biology to join their growing Biology team. This lab-based position requires on-site presence 4-5 days per week at their recently opened Hammersmith facility and reports to the Principal Scientist of Biology.
The successful candidates will be part of a team of experienced scientists investigating the mechanisms of action of the company's protein homeostasis modulators and validating key biological targets. They will present results in internal meetings, interact with cross-functional teams, and engage with external partners. This role offers the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge while working in one of the most exciting fields of drug discovery, positively impacting the lives of patients.
Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities of this role include:
- Design and execute assays to characterise the mechanisms of action of our protein homeostasis modulators.
- Set up chemical, molecular, and genetic approaches to support target validation.
- Accurately capture experiments and results in electronic record.
- Communicate data at internal and external meetings.
- Contribute to the day-to-day management of the lab.
Qualifications & Experience
- BSc/MSc with 3-4 years of experience or PhD in a relevant field of biomedical science, molecular biology, or cell biology.
Strong experimental skills in a wide range of laboratory methods:
- Extensive experience working on cancer targets.
- Investigated target functions using molecular biology techniques and various assays (e.g., Western Blot, cloning, cell line generation, CRISPR, qPCR).
- Preferably has some exposure to working with animal models.
- Conducted target identification using advanced models (e.g., primary cells, organoids, cocultures).
- Proficient in assay development (e.g., cell death, imaging) and experienced in a wide range of laboratory methods.
- Experienced in screening compound libraries for active compounds.
- Experience in the field of targeted protein degradation (Desirable).
- Excellent data analysis and recording skills as well as oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work within a team environment and to build strong working relationships.
