Job description:

Paralegal/ Land Officer

mua Group is a joint venture between the one of the largest gas distribution companies in the UK, SGN and J.

Murphy & Sons. We are looking to recruit aParalegal/Land Officer to join our driven and high-performing management team.

You will lead on a range of processes related to land rights for the adoption of domestic and commercial electricity, gas and water assets.

You will bring a clear understanding of asset protection and land rights, and have the ability to coordinate and liaisewith landowners and their solicitors.

Working closely with our solicitors, you'll analyse and assess risk within legal documentation and proposecsolutions to reduce risk for the company.

Sitting within our management team, you will report to our Regulationand Compliance Manager and will help drive the business towards achieving our vision of becoming the UK's first-choice, multi-utility network operator.


What you wil be doing

  • Analyse and assess company risk within legal documentation and work closely with our solicitors to propose lowerrisk solutions
  • Acquire land rights for our utilities inclusive of acquisitions, leases, deeds of servitude and equivalent consents across the UK
  • Manage the portfolio of projects associated with our clients' developments, ensuring effective communications are provided to all stakeholders and consents are completed efficiently
  • Liaise between the developers, agents and customer project teams, advising them of progress with negotiations, key areas of debate and concerns and contributing to successful solutions
  • Develop relationships with all parties involved in the land rights process to ensure efficient processes to benefit mua and our end customers
  • Supporting the solicitors, analyse and assess risk within legal documentation and proposecsolutions to reduce risk for the company.

Who we are looking for

  • Utility sector experience (preferable, not essential)
  • Clear communication and organisational skills
  • Team player with independent drive and enthusiasm for getting the job done
  • Excellent IT skills including being able to plan and coordinate workload efficiently
  • Selfstarter, comfortable meeting and dealing with various stakeholders
  • Ideally experience in consents, land rights management, conveyancing or wayleave negotiations
  • Full UK driving licence
