The Opportunity

The Director of FP&A is a critical role for HeliosX. You will be a leader for the Finance and Analytics department, playing a pivotal role in shaping the company's financial future by providing insightful analysis, accurate forecasting, and strategic guidance to stakeholders at all levels. Your work will shine a light on the commercial performance of the business, as well as performance drivers across multiple brands and geographies. You will lead the FP&A and Analytics teams in their mission to utilise data and insights to drive value-driven decision making across the group, as we embark on the next phase of our growth journey.

This is a full time, permanent role. The successful candidate will have a hybrid working arrangement split between our Central London offices (1 to 2 days per week) and working from home.

Key responsibilities include:

Problem Solving

  • Provide analytical mastery of performance drivers, with practical alignment to business initiatives and results
  • Lead and own collaborative initiatives across Product, Analytics, Control, and Engineering teams to source and interrogate performance information
  • Assess suitable actions, and present these with authority, giving due regard to relevant assumptions and informational anchor

Team Management

  • Lead the FP&A and Data Analytics functions in their mission to leverage data that delivers commercial insight and strategic direction
  • Ensure the alignment of team priorities to the strategic business objectives
  • Role mode and champion collaborative stakeholder partnerships across business functions
  • Coach and develop both your direct team and broader population of peers in the domain of Financial Planning and Analytics

Strategic Planning

  • Conduct financial analysis of ongoing business performance to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for growth, profitability, and cashflow management
  • Run the FP&A budgeting process through to board sign-off, ensuring cross functional alignment with strategic goals and efficient allocation of resources
  • Challenge material business assumptions in the development of our functional business plans

Business Partnership

  • Partner with business leaders across the organisation to translate strategic objectives into financial models and metrics
  • Prepare regular financial reports and presentations for senior management and the board of directors
  • Build rapport with functional leaders and conduct deep-dives on critical business topics with objective candour #LI-Hybrid

What you'll bring to HeliosX

  • Extensive experience as a senior analytics or FP&A leader in a high-growth business (preferably ecommerce/D2C)
  • Demonstrable experience in financial modelling, forecasting, and budgeting principles needed for a group of international brands
  • Authoritative understanding of strategic drivers (growth, prioritisation, resourcing) and commercial drivers (unit economics, cashflow, marketing) as applied in a real world setting
  • Mastery of analytical interrogation, adept at leveraging multiple data sources and modelling tools
  • Ability to work under pressure, applying judgement to balance analytical rigour with expediency to meet deadlines
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to gain stakeholder trust and motivate a high-performing team
  • Expertise in communicating analytical conclusions through effective reporting and analysis
  • Capable of taking complex scenarios and reducing them to their core tenets as a means to delivering practical insights and recommendations
  • Empathic coaching style ,capable of translating complex financial data into clear and concise insights for a variety of audiences and business forums
