Job Description:


A key aspect of the IA Data and Operations group's responsibilities is to provide the IA organization with strategic direction, oversight and coordination of Data and Operational activities firmwide.

Reporting to IA's Global Head of Operations - who is also IA's Federated Chief Data Officer (FCDO) - the IA Global Operations Lead will direct, administer, and coordinate operational activities in all locations where IA is permanently based in accordance with firmwide and internal policies, goals, and objectives.


This highly visible role requires the establishment of strong working relationships across all levels of IA's organization and the Enterprise Chief Data Office (ECDO) to enable smooth co-ordination of IA's operations and ensure that IA achieves its strategic aims.

Partnering with key functions within and outside of IA, this role will drive Citi-wide change initiatives as they relate to Internal Audit, with a focus on continuous improvement through the consideration/adoption of innovative solutions to drive process efficiency, as well as supporting IA- and function-wide projects, and external examinations of IA.


Specifically related to data governance, this role will collaborate with the Enterprise Chief Data Office (ECDO) to support data records management programs and related data governance initiatives within Internal Audit, as well as assuming responsibility for IA's data privacy program.


Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the strategic establishment of Internal Audit's (IA) operating policies, procedures and controls to ensure compliance with Citi policies (Continuity of Business, End User Computing, etc.), ensuring adequate/consistent execution in IA locations globally.
  • Lead, Influence, Support, Coordinate and Execute Strategic and Operational Projects/ Processes to assist in the strategic achievement of operational goals and efficiencies within IA.
  • Drive the design, implementation and maintenance of IA's data records management program; adopt enterprise capabilities, records and information retention/disposal policies, standards and procedures for data lifecycle management, data record archival/retention, tracking and disposal in collaboration with regional compliance, legal and risk stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Enterprise CDO Data Records Management team on data records management related issues and concerns in order to develop and measure the effectiveness of standards, policies and procedures.
  • Assume overall responsibility for IA's data use and privacy program in support of enterprisewide compliance with all applicable data privacy laws and regulations, including Cross Border Data Clearance.
  • Lead initiatives to continually strengthen the IA control environment and drives continuous improvement in the efficiency and productivity of audit and operational processes.
  • Manage a global team, making recommendations for future development, strategic placement, talent recommendations, pay adjustments, hires, and other personnel actions.
  • Partner with and support IA's Chief Auditors in driving global performance and effectively managing the function, directing operational MI proactively to support these efforts, including assurance plan delivery monitoring, issues validation tracking, data quality exception reporting, and progress towards functional goals.
  • Oversee provision of Data Analytics and MI that addresses IA's Control Environment reporting requirements to firmwide Audit and Governance Committees, as well as to Business and External Stakeholders.
  • Leads regional Operations teams, ensuring responsibilities are clearly defined and focused on regional requirements. Ensures adequate management development and succession planning for direct reports.
  • Owns the premises and logistics of the IA organization to ensure effective and smooth activities are established and maintained in locations where IA has a presence.
  • Partner with other IA functions on activities related to new joiners and leavers, including technology onboarding support.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • 12+ years of overall business management experience in a complex, financial organization, with focus in the operations and data space preferred (specifically records managements, data privacy, and data usage)
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Effective negotiation skills, with a proactive and 'no surprises' approach in communicating issues and strength in sustaining independent views.
  • Welldeveloped listening skills, and a strong ability to engage a group of accomplished leaders across Citigroup who are partners to Internal Audit with respect to its data transformation.
  • An articulate and effective communicator, both orally and in writing, with an energetic, charismatic and approachable style to drive consensus and influence relationships at all levels.
