Job Description:


This diverse role will be an essential part of the team. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe navigation of the ship, managing cargo operations, handling legal and commercial matters, and supervising crew activities. Your duties will include physical tasks like removing rust from metal surfaces and monitoring equipment during bridge/cargo watch. You will also assist senior crew members in overseeing pump operations, equipment maintenance, and more. Over time, you will become proficient in planning the ship's route and mastering anchoring, docking, and cargo handling.

You will divide your time between attending nautical college and serving on one of our super tankers. Upon completing the necessary training and obtaining qualifications, you will hold a UK foundation degree or college diploma in marine operations, a seafarer's license, and a 'certificate of competency' as a deck watchkeeping officer from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA).

This role entails working day and night shifts, so flexibility in working hours is essential.

Minimum Entry Level Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old by September 1, 2024
  • Should be a British citizen with a British passport
  • Applicants must pass a standard industry medical examination for sea placement
  • Minimum Qualifications
    • 4 GCSEs with Grade 4 (C) or above, including English, Maths, and Science

What will you achieve after completing the program

Individuals entering with GCSEs as their highest relevant education will earn a Level 3 Diploma in Deck Shipping & Maritime Operations, with opportunities for advancement to Level 5.

Those entering with equivalent A levels (equivalent to a minimum of 48 UCAS points) will attain a BSc (Hons) in Nautical Science.
