We are seeking a volunteer to assist with the overall administrative duties of the Criminal Justice Unit

The Role

An opportunity to join the Criminal Justice team supporting with a variety of administration skills.

Key Responsibilities


To handle any post coming into the unit, be it internal or external correspondence, making sure that all post received into the unit is forwarded to the relevant person.


Supporting the case administrators to ensure that officer and defence requests for interview discs and custody records are carried out in a timely fashion.

Ensure correct use of the disc burning Robots and to report any issues to IT to the case administrators for them to report to IT.

Support with the finalisation of all cases. Follow the finalisation guidance and check any systems including Libra, Niche and PNC to ensure all results are correct.

Supporting the case administrator with checking and cross referencing systems for all first hearing court slots.

Ensure that the Police and Court system information is the same and highlight any issues in line with the bail diary guidance to the case administrator.

To complete any occasional mandatory training sessions in order to maintain continued professional development.

Skills & Experience

Joining our busy team, you'll require first class organisational, problem solving and communication skills

IT Skills including familiarity with Microsoft Outlook and Excel are essential

Ability to work under pressure on occasion and prioritise your work

Ability to work within agreed professional boundaries with colleagues within Sussex Police and externally
