  • A professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIPFA or equivalent).
  • Already be operating in a Senior Manager role within the audit sector of public sector or major local audit.
  • Significant post qualification experience in the audits of major local audits (health and local authority sectors), value for money arrangements and other public interest entities.
  • Broad and detailed public sector knowledge, including recent regulatory changes for the public sector, to facilitate working across multiple firms in this sector.

The Role:

  • Conduct inspections of firmwide procedures at the major audit firms involved in public sector auditing, as required.
  • Participate in other projects as required

The Person:


An accountancy qualification as well as significant experience at a senior level in the external audit profession, specifically gained from the audit of local audit entities, Foundation Trusts and other public sector entities, but to include both health andlocal government audit experience.


  • A professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIPFA or equivalent).
  • Already be operating in a Senior Manager role within the audit sector of public sector or major local audit.
  • Significant post qualification experience in the audits of major local audits (health and local authority sectors), value for money arrangements and other public interest entities.
  • Strong technical auditing and accounting skills.
  • A demonstrable interest in an audit firm's audit quality initiatives.
  • Broad and detailed public sector knowledge, including recent regulatory changes for the public sector, to facilitate working across multiple firms in this sector.
  • Ability to understand and assess significant volumes of information quickly and through this identify aspects of potential audit quality concern.
  • Ability to build constructive and professional relationships with senior audit team and audit firm personnel.
  • Ability to challenge the judgements made and quality of work performed by audit teams authoritatively, and to present and discuss issues arising on their merits in a calm and professional manner.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills including report drafting, presenting findings accurately, fairly and convincingly.
