London, Greater London, United Kingdom Telegraph Full time

Digital Production Journalist (Lifestyle Reviews)

You will be responsible for editing and publishing digital content on The Telegraph's Recommended channel and other online channels.

Working full time Monday to Friday, you will ensure our content (chiefly product reviews) is produced in the most effective way for a digital audience - so that it

  • attracts traffic
  • drives subscriptions
  • sparkles on site and on social media.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure copy is accurate, well presented and optimised for a digital audience.
  • Build articles in the Telegraph Recommended house style. Source product photographs and edit them using Adobe Photoshop.
  • Ensure all affiliate links are correct and prices up to date.
  • Improve the user experience. This means writing useful, search-optimised and snappy headlines and making use of polls, infographics, video and other multimedia assets to keep readers engaged.
  • Be creative with structure and editorial tools to enhance the written copy.
  • Liaise closely with the commercial SEO team on daily and weekly refreshes of existing product reviews to ensure that they always come at the top of Google searches.

Essential vs desirable skills required for the role
Essential:

  • Quick, accurate subbing and an eye for small details (especially in links).
  • Proven experience of creating and editing stories on digital platforms.
  • Experience of working in features or lifestyle at regional, trade or national level.
  • Understanding of social media and SEO.
  • Knowledge of how best to present content for digital platforms - what content will appear first in search, how to structure articles for mobile readers.
  • Familiarity with the world of consumer technology, the major brands and their major products. Having a reasonable idea of how the key technologies work will help you spot mistakes in copy.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise deadlines.
  • Proven ability to respond well under pressure and deliver a high volume of content at pace
  • A good understanding of the Telegraph audience.
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop.
  • Experience writing product reviews.
  • Sometimes we have to create our own photo and short video content. An ability to do this will be a bonus.

The nature of our industry means life at the Telegraph Media Group is fast-paced, demanding, and interesting. We also want it to be rewarding for everyone who works here by creating a suite of benefits that contribute to lifestyle choices and leisure activities. From dynamic working opportunities, medical cover, and parental leave (six months fully paid maternity leave and enhanced paternity/partner leave), to life assurance and season ticket loans, you can choose from a range of flexible benefits, designed to support your lifestyle and help you achieve a healthy work-life balance.

Training and development

With support from your manager and colleagues, you'll also have access to a variety of training and development opportunities through The Academy. Covering a range of personal and professional skills, our courses enable you to develop an enjoyable and rewarding career.

Our commitment to inclusion

At Telegraph Media Group, we foster a diverse and inclusive workplace and we are committed to building a team that reflects a wide variety of skills, perspectives and backgrounds.
