JOB PURPOSEnWorking within the TechOps Team within the wider Operations department for the Director, TechOps & IT you will be responsible for our data center systems which enable our sites to operate.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Management System (BMS) Engineer / Manager to join our team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining BMS solutions to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency in building systems.

The BMS Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, clients, and vendors to deliver integrated and cutting-edge solutions for our diverse portfolio of projects.

This individual may also assume some responsibility for our security systems as well.

This position will work very closely with the Tech Ops Infrastructure Manager who manages the hardware infrastructure, servers, operating systems, and network components that underpin our BMS and security systems.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, with a focus on optimizing the performance and security of our facility's critical systems.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESnSystem Design and Implementation:

nDesign, configure, and implement BMS solutions to meet project specifications and requirements.nIntegrate diverse building systems, including HVAC, lighting, security, and energy management, into a centralized BMS platform.nEnsure seamless communication and interoperability among different components of the BMS.


nProgramming and Commissioning:


nDevelop and implement control algorithms to optimize building systems for energy efficiency and occupant comfort.nConduct thorough system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting to ensure proper functionality and adherence to design specifications.nCollaborate with project teams to ensure timely and successful BMS implementation.


nMaintenance and Support:


nProvide ongoing support for installed BMS systems, including troubleshooting, diagnosing issues, and implementing solutions.nPerform regular system maintenance, updates, and upgrades to enhance system performance and security.nDevelop and conduct training programs for end-users and maintenance staff.


nDocumentation and Reporting:


nCreate and maintain comprehensive documentation of BMS designs, configurations, and programming logic.nGenerate regular reports on system performance, energy consumption, and operational efficiency.nEnsure compliance with industry standards and regulations.


nCollaboration and Communication:


nWork closely with clients, project managers, architects, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and expectations.nCollaborate with external vendors and suppliers to select appropriate BMS components and technologies.nCommunicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.nWork closely with hardware and software vendors to procure components, negotiate contracts, and stay informed about the latest technological advancements.


nApplication Management:


nOversee the design, implementation and maintenance of the BMS and Security systems, in conjunction with both internal and 3rd party resources.nEnsure the reliability, scalability, and performance of applications and associated systems.


nInfrastructure Management:
nWork in conjunction with the infrastructure team to oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the underlying hardware infrastructure supporting BMS and security systems

nServer and Operating System Optimization:


nManage and optimize server configurations to support BMS and security applications efficiently.nStay abreast of the latest developments in operating systems, implementing upgrades and patches as necessary for enhanced security and performance.


nNetwork Architecture:


nCollaborate with the Tech Ops Infrastructure team to Design and maintain the network architecture supporting BMS and security systems, ensuring seamless communication and data transfer.nCollaborate with the Tech Ops Infrastructure team to implement robust networking solutions for optimal system functionality.


nCompliance and Documentation:


nEnsure that all systems comply with industry standards, regulations, and cybersecurity best practices.nMaintain detailed documentation of configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting processes.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCEnPREFERRED EDUCATION/

QUALIFICATIONS:


nBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.nProven experience in BMS design, implementation, and programming.nStrong knowledge of building systems, HVAC controls, and energy management.nProficiency in programming languages such as BACnet, Modbus, and PLC languages.nFamiliarity with industry standards and regulations, such as ASHRAE and LEED.nExcellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.nEffective communication and interpersonal skills.


SKILLS & ABILITIESnCertification in Building Automation Systems (BAS) or equivalent.nExperience with popular BMS platforms (e.g., Niagra, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Johnson Controls).nKnowledge of IoT technologies and cloud-based BMS solutions.nUnderstanding of cloud based resilience strategiesnKnowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices.nLeadership and team management skills.nExcellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.nEffective communication and collaboration skills.nHighly OrganisednWorks under own directionnVendor Management experience.nUnderstanding of cloud based resilience strategies.
