In this role you will efficiently and safely manage a diverse team of remotely based Water Quality technicians in the clean water business, providing a sampling service to Operations and key stakeholders.
Field Operations Manager ensuring that Health & Safetyobligations and team management responsibilities are met, along with monitoring and driving performance of the team through the active management process delivering from within the field.
- Key areas of accountability will include: _
- Line managing remotely based field and office staff.
Directly managing reports regarding all facets of management:
H&S, Performance, Training, Learning & Development.
- Delivery of Thames Water's regulatory and operational sampling programmes, ensuring quantity and quality targets are achieved
- Fulfil the role of Technical Manager regarding the Clean Water Quality Management System
- Technical authors of Quality Manual and Sampling Procedures Manual
- Managing day to day technical activities
- Ensuring compliance with relevant DWI/ UKAS standards within their scope of activity
- Operation of a calibration and QC regime
- Competence Testing and training of new personnel (WQTs and Coordinators)
- Managing audit programme of field sampling activities
- Ensuring correct and accurate record retention
- Attending and inputting into QMS management reviews
- Liaising with stakeholders and customers to ensure service levels are achieved
- Reviewing spend versus budget, identifying risks and seeking opportunities.
What you should bring to the role:
- Experience in people management, driving performance and improving overall engagement
- Experience in the H&S management of frontline staff (IOSH, Risk Management etc.)
- Full UK driving licence
- IT literate
- Will be an advantage if you:_
- Educated to at least Degree level (preferably scientific or environmental discipline)
- Knowledge of clean water network processes
- Detailed knowledge or experience of QMS (preferably ISO17025)
- Detailed knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements and legislation
- Awareness of WQ sampling programmes

This particular team are passionate about maintaining the quality of drinking water, protecting the environment and providingan excellent service to customers.
The role is to co-ordinate, through others, the efficient processing of sample arrival, with many results critical to public health, the section generates over 400,000 test results per year.
Required to drive training, staffdevelopment and building a team, who deliver constantly in a high throughput rapid turn round environment, while maintaining quality and safety at the highest levels.
We are looking for an effective problem solver to contribute to the analysis of trends, spotissues before they become problems and look for opportunities to improve process, to co-ordinate the development and validation of analytical techniques, and play a part in selecting future processes to meet changing customer demands.
