Role Description
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and talented scientist to join the multidisciplinary team at BIOCAPTIVA in their mission to improve the lives of millions through liquid biopsy. As a laboratory research scientist, your role is to use your chemical and biological skillset to develop, analyse, test, and optimize state-of-the-art polymer technologies for DNA collection. These are informed by clinical expertise across a range of sample types and settings, to produce tests and devices with a strong design rationale and real-world application. This is a varied role with opportunities to apply your skills both inside and outside the lab.
Requirements
- BSc in chemistry or biology, or equivalent
- Experience in assay development and optimisation
- Data analysis and problem-solving skills
- Self-sufficient in a research laboratory setting
- Knowledge of safe handling of biological materials and contamination risks
- Effective communication and presentation skills
- Effective record keeping skills
- Postgraduate qualifications in chemistry and/or biology
- Experience in polymer/synthetic/material chemistry
- Experience in analytical chemistry
- Experience in molecular biology
- Experience of using ELNs
- Familiar with working with intellectual property
