This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic translational research lab that is focussed on research in Type 1 diabetes and in particular optimising islet transplantation outcomes in diabetic rodent models.

This position is to support a research programme funded by the Steve Morgan Foundation/Diabetes UK, investigating whether biodegradable microparticles packaged with a range of drugs including anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory drugs, improve islet transplant outcomes when delivered with islets at the time of transplant directly into the liver.

The post holder will also have the opportunity to work with colleagues in the institute for regeneration and repair and the cell and gene therapy catapult at the University of Edinburgh as well as the University of Nottingham, department of pharmacy (White lab), that are manufacturing the microparticles.

There are 2 post-doctoral research scientists, 1 PhD student, 2 laboratory technicians, 2 animal technicians and 2 research co-ordinators.
