We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Lead Research Scientist in theBiocatalysis Team, based at our Biotechnology R&D site in Daresbury, Cheshire.The purpose of this role is to develop innovative, sustainable products for applicationsin Consumer Care and Life Sciences using enzyme-based processes. Specifically,you will devise and perform experiments for characterizing enzyme reactions andwill have the opportunity to lead subsequent process scale-up.

Essentials:

Understands the fundamentals of enzyme catalysis applied to industrial processes, ideally acquired in at least a MSc in Chemical/Biochemical Engineering or related fields or equivalent level in industry
Laboratory experience developing preparative-scale enzymatic processes
Flexible and focused team player with growth mindset
Excellent project management, planning and organisational skills with the ability to adapt to changing project requirements
An effective communicator, capable of building working relationships within an interdisciplinary team and with external partners
Able to develop innovativeand creative solutions to problems using state-of-the-art know-how

Desirables:

Experience with bioprocess scale-up and design with a view towards manufacturing scales
Expertise on downstream process development
Strong analytical chemistry skillset
Experience with reactions involving poorly water-soluble substrates
Experience as a leadermanaging, supervising or mentoring others
