Spinwell is recruiting for a Developer for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF DEVELOPER


As a Senior Developer in the Government Cyber Coordination Centre (GC3) you'll be responsible for a number of newly developed, custom platforms that support the security of the public sector.

Our team ensures that the government response to cyber-incidents is coordinated, and that the sector as a whole can defend as one.


You'll be working autonomously on one of four MVP services, operationalising them and bringing them into line with best practice.

This is a chance to embed good practice in products that will be used across the wider public sector, including a single sign-on service and a secure data warehousing solution.


You will be part of a team directed by the technical lead and you will work directly with users to iterate the product roadmap, understanding and explaining the art of the possible while maintaining a pragmatic approach to the work.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OF DEVELOPER


You will be the kind of person who likes tidying and improving code, rather than frantically building the next thing.

You'll have a focus on test-driven development, documentation as part of the code lifecycle, and security baked in from the start.


Expert-level skill of:

  • Linux: including basic systems administration, shell scripting, and developing software for a Linux environment.
  • Python: including API development using django-rest-framework or similar, concurrency fundamentals, the requests and dnspython software libraries
  • Data storage and processing: including SQL, PostgreSQL, JSON, and interacting with RESTful APIs
*AWS: including key services, security fundamentals, access control / IAM, serverless development, Lambdas, security policies

  • Development best practice: including peer reviewing, continuous integration/continuous deployment, and test-driven development.
  • Terraform: idiomatic patterns and refactoring
