Day to day, you would be responsible for...

  • Stay updated on political announcements and disseminate this information throughout the organisation to help it grasp the implications for the charity, and its members.
  • Collaborate with the public relations team to craft compelling narratives that showcase the charity's work to external audiences.
  • Participate in external meetings with government officials to bolster the organisations overarching strategy of enhancing its external visibility and influence.
  • Articulate the organisations viewpoints to Members of Parliament in Westminster and across devolved regions, including providing briefings for political debates.
  • Develop potent and results-oriented policy campaigns, working closely with members of the marketing team and utilising external communication channels for maximum impact.
  • Partner with external agencies for research projects aimed at understanding the perspectives of members.
  • Serve as an authoritative spokesperson, representing the organisation to the media, or assist in crafting statements for media outlets (training can be arranged if needed).
About You – Policy, Public Affairs and Communications Officer
  • Demonstrate a track record in policy and public affairs, showcasing instances where your experience has directly contributed to policy changes through effective advocacy and campaigning.
  • Possess a firm grasp of the inner workings of both the Government and Parliament, including their processes and dynamics.
  • Showcase experience in collaborating with stakeholders and establishing strong external relationships that are vital for the organisation's objectives.
  • While prior experience in media relations is advantageous, it is not essential as training can be offered to fill any gaps in this area.
