The Opportunity
This position works out of our Maidenhead location for Abbott Nutrition. Our nutrition business develops science-based nutrition products for people of all ages, from helping babies and children grow, to keeping adult bodies strong and active. Millions of people around the world count on our leading brands – including Similac, PediaSure, Pedialyte, Ensure, Glucerna and ZonePerfect – to help get the nutrients they need to live their healthiest life.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Medical Director to join Abbott Nutrition EURISA. The ideal candidate will lead and supervise external engagement relationships with key stakeholders. They will lead Medical Affairs communication.
What You'll Do
- Accountable for strategic planning and tactical implementation as it relates to Medical Affairs.
- The Medical Director will develop and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders in therapeutic areas of commercial and research interest as well as be responsible for conveying complex medical and scientific information to professional scientific audiences
- A key accountability will involve ensuring all promotional materials are approved in compliance with the Abbott Code of Business Conduct, and local policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
- The role involves partnering with the marketing department in the preparation of claims, promotional messages and promotional materials for AN products, ensuring compliance with local policies, procedures and regulations.
- Responsible for scientific review of Investigator Sponsored Studies in collaboration with Nutrition Science, to drive the development, submission and execution of Investigator Supported Studies to ensure completion and appropriate publication. This role will be responsible for ensuring close cooperation between ANRD SMA and affiliate Medical Affairs leaders to provide maximum partnership to the ANI business.
Required Qualifications
- Medical Doctor or Registered Dietitian with relevant qualifications in clinical nutrition.
- Significant clinical expertise and knowledge – desirable for both adult and paediatric clinical nutrition.
- An experienced senior manager with experience in managing area/country Medical Affairs with a proven track record in clinical research, communication, and leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability for problem solving, working in teams, leading others toward defined objectives and presenting complex data clearly
- Market experience and established relationships with area KOLs.
- Ability to build relationships with, and influence, key stakeholders.
- Fluent in English; additional European languages desirable
- Good understanding of the global nutrition business and the operation of multinational companies.
- People management skills.
- Knowledge of local regulatory laws and policies
