We are looking for Autism support workers with experience working with individuals with autism to facilitate their independence.

Some skills are learned on the job but what matters is that you are active, responsive, patient, and have a sense of humour; you must have the ability to listen and to act on clients' needs, as well as using your own initiative.

The relationship with staff and the clients depends on mutual trust and respect. You must be able to respect their way of life.

There is a fair amount of travelling involved on this job so it is important that you are a keen walker and knowledgeable of the area, e.g.

where amusements, leisure centers are located.

The job involves three key parts:

  • Assisting with accessing the community and participating in Leisure activities going to the movies, gym, museums, and physical activities, e.g. light shopping with the client
  • Supporting with skills teaching around domestic skills, e.g. Maintaining a clean environment, meal preparation, Laundry, etc
  • Supporting with communication and interaction e.g. Making phone calls, bookings and appointments, assisting to complete forms for clients

Shifts available

Hayes UB4 near Northolt train station

Young Female:
Monday to Friday from 3pm to 9pm during term time and 9am to 9pm during weekends and holidays. - Females only

Male and Female:
Sundays from 10am to 4pm

Essential skills and abilities

  • Practical and efficient with a good level of written and spoken English plus numeracy
  • Good timekeeper (very important) and Reasonably fit,

  • Flexible and adaptable
  • A positive attitude and a calm manner
  • A sense of humour
  • Good listening and communication skills

Job Types:
Full-time, Part-time

Part-time hours: 37.5 per week

Salary:
£11.95-£12.50 per hour
