We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team of purification scientists working with and supporting GSK Chemistry at Stevenage.


The UK Purification Group is a multidisciplinary team that works with project teams to progress the discovery and development of small molecules from hit identification through early development (non-GxP).


We are looking for someone with strong technical and personal skills, experience of team or matrix management and a commitment to further personal development.

In this role you will partake in and oversee:

  • Chromatographic method development and purification of novel chemical entities
  • Management of the achiral purification team
  • Investigation and implementation of novel technologies and improvements to methodologies to enhance capabilities
  • Coordination and chairing of monthly group meetings
  • Organisation of monthly highlight review and communication strategy
  • Instrument troubleshooting and maintenance

Basic Qualifications & Skills:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • BSc in Chemistry with significant industrial experience and training, or MSc/PhD with demonstrable and practical industrial experience in a professional setting
  • Strong experience of UPLC, HPLC and LC/MS analytical and purification platforms
  • Highly selfmotivated with good organisational skills
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment to solve problems
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

Please note the following skills are not necessary, just preferred, if you do not have them, please still apply:

  • Significant experience in the field of chiral separations and/or SFC
  • Demonstrable evidence of leadership capabilities
  • Background in associated analytical techniques such as mass spectrometry
  • Ability to develop and implement novel technologies
  • Ability to perform both as individual contributor and as part of a team
