The Role

Our award-winning Mission Systems Team deliver some of the world's most advanced aviation IT systems from our office in Lincoln.

As a result of our continued success and business expansion, we are delighted to offer a User Guide and Systems Manual Author opportunity to support the development and delivery of our bespoke IT products.

As a User Guide and Systems Manual Author, you will be responsible for documenting the capabilities of our products and providing written guidance for their use, for both external and internal customers.

You will also be responsible for ensuring the knowledge captured is communicated within the Mission Systems team.

The main duties of the role will include:

The Person

We are looking for a proactive, articulate, flexible and confident individual with excellent attention to detail and the discipline to produce consistently high-quality output, whilst committing to the principles of developing high quality systems to specific standards.

As a member of a small highly skilled team, the responsibilities of the role will necessarily be broad and varied and you should be prepared to assume a comprehensive range of tasks, be capable of working with minimum supervision, be confident enough to contribute your own suggestions and ideas and have a 'can do' attitude as you will be required to take a flexible, constructive and timely approach to meeting the diverse needs of the Company's business.

We require a proactive individual with relevant and recent knowledge and experience of providing solutions aligned to the role requirements defined above.

  • Experience of writing structured content (ideally using an XML / SGML format).
  • Competent user of image editing software.
Evidence (including qualifications or certifications) of any of the following would be considered beneficial:

  • Proficiency in writing using MadCap Flare (highly desirable), DITA, or other similar software.
  • Experience in the use of configuration control tools such as SVN or Git.
  • A strong understanding of the aviation environments in which our products are used.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Systems and Software Engineering Lifecycles, interface and integration.
  • An understanding of Requirements, Architecture and Verification concepts for Software and Systems.
  • An understanding of basic IT Networking concepts.
  • System, hardware or software test experience, ideally within a regulated domain (e.g., aerospace).
  • An understanding of current safety standards and concepts, for the development of systems for safety related systems (e.g., RTCA/DO178C, DO200A, DO254).
  • An understanding of current security standards and concepts (e.g., HMG IA, ISO 27001, 'SecurebyDesign').
