An exciting opportunity for a Junior Doctor Rota Co-ordinator has arisen at the Royal Marsden.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual to join the Cancer Services Division to provide administrative support to the Medical Workforce Operations Manager and CBU Managers for all junior doctor rotas.


This role will require liaising with a number of different staffing groups including junior doctors, consultants, managers and support staff.

You will be joining a well-established supportive team.

This post is based at the Chelsea site.

However, the post holder will be required to work flexibly across both our sites in Chelsea and Sutton to ensure effective cover at all times.

The Rota Co-ordinator will be the lead in managing junior doctor rotas in Cancer Services.

A key function of this role will include the co-ordination of all medical staff rotas to ensure the service is resourced to the required levels each day.

You will be responsible for maximising the skills and resources within this staff group including training and development. You will have oversight of locum bookings in order to ensure cost effective and safe staffing levels.


The post holder will be required to work flexibly across both sites of the Trust to ensure that cover arrangements are arranged effectively.

The post holder will be the main point of contact for all junior doctors for all queries.

ROTA MANAGEMENT

  • Design effective junior doctor rotas on Healthroster in line with the WTD requirements and 2016 junior doctor T&Cs.
  • To develop an indepth knowledge of each of the junior doctor rotas and their function including shift patterns and minimum levels of cover required.
  • Review and ensure all rotas are filled three months in advance as a minimum to maintain efficiencies and stability.
  • To liaise with the master vend agency to put in place cover arrangements when required, ensuring compliance with Pan London caps
  • Take a lead role in filling all vacant shifts, ensuring there is a weekly contingency plan in place.

HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

  • Support the Medical Workforce Operations Manager on recruitment and retention of medical staff.
  • Organise and oversee staff induction and training and ensure that all staff are adequately trained to fulfil their role and ensure a welltrained and highly motivated workforce
  • Encourage medical staff to keep their personal development plans up to date and an accurate record of training received recorded. Setting up inductions for new Doctors including agencies.
SERVICE REPORTING & PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT

  • Oversight of productivity reports on a daily basis to address performance/financial variances with evidence of completed actions.

COMMUNICATION AND RELATIONSHIPS SKILLS

  • Post holder will liaise with all levels of medical staff in order to compile weekly medical rotas.
  • Post holder must ensure that all gaps on the rota are filled by liaising with CPS and contacting regular locums and check and authorise CVs of suitable locums. Post holder will always try to utilise the available workforce flexibility where feasible, utilising persuasive/negotiating skills.
